About Starya
Starya develops AI for complex operations. We connect artificial intelligence, software, and data to transform real business processes with security, reliability, and control.
Our platform, NebulaOS, is the foundation for building, integrating, and operating these solutions. Our work combines engineering close to customers, product development, and a foundation of data, infrastructure, and security.
The challenge
Lead a Client Engineering team from discovery through ongoing improvement in production, developing FDEs and contributing to implementation. Turn the customer’s problem into a scope that can be verified, with clear acceptance criteria and responsibilities. Combine technical judgment and operational understanding to decide where to apply AI, retain deterministic rules, or require a human decision.
What you will do
- Lead discovery with FDEs and customer stakeholders, following tasks, data, and exceptions. Define scope, acceptance criteria, and limits on autonomy: for example, what proves that an action in an AI workflow actually took effect in the ERP or CRM.
- Develop people through feedback, delegation, and code review. Write code for critical components, investigate failures, and help break down difficult implementations. Share knowledge so that decisions and delivery can move forward independently, without always relying on the lead.
- Guide and review integrations, permissions, and contracts between systems. Address isolation between organizations, repeated calls, and unknown outcomes; after a write times out, define how to check the state in the target system before allowing another attempt.
- Negotiate priorities, dependencies, and scope changes with the customer and leadership. Work with the people responsible to resolve access, environment, and integration dependencies; renegotiate scope and sequencing when these blockers affect delivery, and escalate capacity or risk conflicts.
- Distinguish customer adaptations from reusable NebulaOS capabilities. Assess recurring needs, compatibility, and maintenance with Product Engineering and the PM. Define who maintains an adaptation during that assessment, and document the handover when its incorporation into the platform is agreed.
- Prepare gradual deployment and monitoring with the team and operational owners. Start with an agreed process or group, verify reconciliation and exceptions, define conditions for pausing and recovery, and use evidence from actual use to decide the next increment.
What we look for
- Strong experience programming and maintaining applications with TypeScript and Node.js or an equivalent environment. Ability to implement services, review asynchronous code, and investigate failures between components, explaining choices about structure, testing, and error handling.
- Command of SQL and API- and event-based integration sufficient to investigate state discrepancies, discuss transactions and consistency, and design contracts that tolerate repetition, unavailability, and evolution without compromising customer operations.
- Experience leading engineers while remaining closely involved in technical work: delegate problems, guide decisions, give specific feedback, and adjust the distribution of work to reflect complexity, capacity, and each person’s development.
- Experience bringing software into operational use, with acceptance criteria, observability, diagnosis, and recovery. Ability to assess AI applications through their behavior and effects on systems, including incomplete data, unsuitable responses, and human intervention.
- Ability to speak with users, specialists, and leaders to clarify rules, negotiate priorities, and explain technical limits. Record decisions, dependencies, and owners clearly enough to guide implementation and continuity.
Additional experience
- Experience in engineering alongside customers, especially where discovery, enterprise system integration, and software adoption had to evolve during delivery.
- Experience turning solutions for a single operation into shared capabilities, with configuration, versioned contracts, tests, and an explicit handover of maintenance responsibility.
- Experience applying AI to healthcare, insurance, or business service processes, connecting model evaluation, human review, and confirmation of actions.
Your impact
Your contribution shows in deliveries the customer can verify and the team can sustain. Time to acceptance, rework after deployment, and dependencies requiring leadership intervention help assess delivery and FDE autonomy. Recurring lessons inform product development.
Who you build with
We are building customer squads with one Client Engineering Lead and two FDEs. The team follows discovery, development, integration, deployment, and results alongside the customer. The lead coordinates priorities with the PM and Product Engineering and arranges support from data, SRE, security, research, design, and quality, keeping ownership of each component and decision explicit.
