The challenge
Turn product needs into usable, maintainable software within your specialty. The context includes agents that use tools, workflows spanning systems, and people who need to understand the result. You contribute to decisions, implement, test, and monitor the behavior of the capabilities you help build.
What you will do
- Break down a need with PM, Design, and engineering into an increment that can be verified. Deliver the design of relevant states and contracts; for example, distinguish a received request from an action actually completed in the integrated system, and define how to check that result.
- In Backend work, build APIs, services, and integrations with explicit contracts. Handle authorization, idempotency, repeated events, concurrency, and partial failures, preparing ways to check the state in the target system when a response is lost.
- In Frontend work, create interfaces for configuring agents, monitoring executions, and enabling human intervention. Represent loading, validation, permissions, errors, and uncertain outcomes, with accessible navigation and actions that help people recover their work.
- Preserve each organization’s boundaries in the components you own. Verify tenant context, permissions, and data handling at relevant interfaces, working with security and other specialists to test unauthorized access attempts.
- Deliver code with tests and instructions for validating the change. Investigate problems using appropriate operational signals, reproduce failures, and improve messages, diagnostics, and recovery procedures without exposing sensitive content.
- Prepare changes for adoption and maintenance: document contracts, assess compatibility, and agree on gradual deployment where necessary. Discuss with FDEs and leads whether a specific behavior should be configuration, an integration, or an improvement to a shared component.
What we look for
- Practical depth in Backend, Frontend, or Full-stack, demonstrated through software you helped build and maintain. Ability to explain choices, challenges, and consequences in real use.
- Foundations in programming, data structures, and code organization, with the ability to turn rules into understandable components and identify complexity that makes testing or maintenance difficult.
- In Backend, depth in data modeling, transactions, and API contracts; in Frontend, asynchronous state, component composition, and accessibility. Demonstrate command of your chosen specialty and understand its interfaces with others.
- Practice with testing, code review, and version control. Ability to reproduce a problem, choose verification proportional to the risk, and prepare a change that others can review.
- Attention to authorization, validation, privacy, and behavior under failure conditions. Clear communication when discussing scope questions, operational states, and dependencies with people in other specialties.
Additional experience
- Experience with TypeScript or equivalent ecosystems, web applications, or distributed services. Examples of decisions and maintenance that demonstrate transferable fundamentals across tools are relevant.
- Experience with systems used by multiple organizations, event processing, or enterprise integrations, including contract compatibility, repeated calls, and recovery from partial failures.
- Experience with AI applications or operational interfaces, connecting model responses, tool use, and human intervention to verifiable states in the services and systems involved.
Your impact
A repeated request retains its expected effect; an interface distinguishes an execution in progress from an unknown outcome; an error can be reproduced and investigated by someone else. These are examples of expected results. Impact is tracked through delivered behavior, fewer regressions, and ease of component maintenance.
Who you build with
You work with the Engineering Lead, PM, Product Designer, and QA to define, build, and verify increments. Backend, Frontend, and Full-stack are possible areas of contribution within this role. You collaborate with FDEs, data, AI Research, SRE, and security on contracts and dependencies spanning the platform.
